Ok, the Oscar nominations are out and the underdog Slumdog Millionaire is nominated in 10 categories. And after winning the Golden Globe, AR Rahman has three nominations! Yes!![]()
Best Background Score
Best Song 1: O…Saya
Best Song 2: Jai Ho…
While it Oscar is perhaps not a measure for talent of AR Rahman, but I wish he wins it for the sake of it. And makes me wonder if he will bring home not one but two of those men
I definitely feel that AR Rahman has done better work than Slumdog Millionaire, and if he wins this, then he world will sit up and take notice of what talent this man possesses.
Other categories that Slumdog Millionaire has been nominated are:
Cinematography,Directing, Film Editing, Motion Picture of the Year, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Screenplay.
I wish there will be a time, when countries all over the world will compare their musician to Rahman and call them something like “Rahman of the West”.
All the best AR Rahman!

I was just checking the nominations for OSCAR in BBC and this story was really interesting (not so interesting for ARR fans).
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/oscars/7845150.stm
I have heard a lot about the ‘Anti – India’ bias of BBC but now I think there is some truth in it. In this story they don’t even acknowledge ARR for his songs. There is not even a single mention of his name anywhere in the story…
Excerpts from the story:
Though Clint Eastwood’s film Changeling received three nominations, the man himself was passed over in the directing, acting and even music categories.
So was Bruce Springsteen, whose Golden Globe-winning theme song for The Wrestler was oddly overlooked for best song.
So, incidentally, was the Quantum of Solace theme Another Way to Die, Eastwood’s title track from Gran Torino and the entire score of High School Musical 3.
All had made the best song longlist announced last month, only to be left out of the final three.
In their place came two songs from Slumdog Millionaire and one from Wall-E, warbled by Peter Gabriel.
Not a lot of tunes at this year’s ceremony then, though host Hugh Jackman may well make up the shortfall.
In this, as in other areas, the Academy voters have gone their own sweet way.
