I am a die hard fan of Salman Khan. I loved watching him in numerous movies, then what is making me think he is copying someone? Read on..SalmanKhan

I watch the TV show Friends everyday. In last one year, I perhaps watched all the seasons twice. Of late I started realizing that Joey, a character in Friends played by Matt LeBlanc, is like someone I know. After a lot of thought, it struck me that it is Salman Khan.

Salman, perhaps was very original in earlier movies. Think of Maine Pyar Kiya, Andaz Apna Apna, Saajan, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. But somewhere in late 90s his style changed, think Judwaa, Hello Brother or even the recent Partner and Yuvvraaj. Other than one or two exceptions like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, every other film in which he is a brat makes me feel his acts are heavily “inspired” by antics of Matt LeBlanc. Interestingly if you see the timelines of change, they do coincide with the times when Friends became popular.

Couple of my friends shared the same thought when I discussed with them. There have been others who out-rightly rejected my claims. “Why do you always think our guys copy Hollywood, why don’t you think Matt LeBlanc may have been inspired by Salman?”, is what they have to say.

Do you share my views or think otherwise, do share your opinions. Frankly, I loved the old Salman than this new “inspired” version. Hope to see the old him back sometime.

    Sid… I echo your thoughts as well…
I found Amir mimicking Tom Hanks… Dont you think so???
No offence but, he does that so royally that it looks so good…
    I am his fan… Ghajini Rocks…

I dont think so.Mannerisms are mannerisms. Stupidity can be shown in many forms. Joey and Salman are originally silly in their own ways!!!!!!

  4. Different Opinions says:

I don’t agree too, we always try to compare Bollywood starts/movies with Hollywood …

It is funny but sometimes I find Jennifer Aniston copying Sridevi … and I know for sure she must have not even watched any movie of Sridevi :)

So friends …. lets Appreciate actors for what they are, lets not search another actor in them.

    Njoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!

I think in more than one respects, you are right, Salman's acting has been inching closer to being more boisterous contrast to many if his films, where has downed a calm and cool demeanour.

  6. jaya says:

Not only his acting, but Salman seems to copy his style and looks as well though they do seem to have striking resemblance. I thought that Salman did copy Joey in many ways and googled and found your blog.. awesome.. I do feel the same.but nothing wrong with that.

  7. Shishir says:

That's right – nothing wrong in copying ….but nothing better than creating your own individuality…what say ?….Sometimes I do think Salman is stereotype too…

    Nice article, btw…good perspective..
