Last 55 hours India has faced its worst ever crisis. 15-20 terrorists took Mumbai under siege. As many as 150 people killed including several High Profile Cops, Army Jawans, The Taj burning, gunfires, grenades, AK 47s, and god knows what not.

Mumbai is burning. India is angry. Pakistan seems to have a hand.

One man who had spoken for the Marathi Manoos and lampooned North & South Indians left, right and center seems to have hidden behind the curtains. No one heard his voice. He seems to have chickened out.

It needed the strong brave army of National Security Guards consisting of mainly North & South Indians to save his Marathi Manoos.

Raj Thackeray – Today, your head should bow in shame. So much for your regional jingoism !

What have you done for the Marathi Manoos ? Attended them at the hospital with a few hundred cameramen around you so that the whole world could see your drama, your crocodile tears ?

Where were you  when there was fierce gun battle in front of The Oberoi, The Taj and The Nariman House ?

Your party is called Maharashtra NavNirman Sena. And I thought Sena means Army – No ? The name “Sena” is a shame for you and your partyworkers.

What NavNirman are you talking about ? NavNirman means Rebuilding. We don’t want people like you to rebuild once it is fallen. We want people like Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte, Vijay Kalaskar who would lay down their lives and not let the morale of the Marathi Manoos fall.

We want leaders with a vision. Not one who would pitch against each other for every petty thing.

Go learn something from the Army, from the Jawans, from the guards who laid down their lives for Mumbai. They didn’t talk of South India or North India. They talked as if they belonged to one nation – India – Their India.

Raj, it is high time that you gave up your utopian concept of a Marathi boundary filled with Marathi Manoos. We are Indians first.

For heaven’s sake – Stop Your Regional Jingoism !

that lame a$$ has vanished coz he will be back to pick up the pieces…navnirMAN you see! all these politicos can only ‘act’ nothing else. when will india get someone that we can look up to? the prime minister is a standing joke, the home minister cant ‘stand’, the chief minister is a loser, is this the ‘change’ is this the similarity we tried to draw between manmohan singh and obama? i dont think so!

  2. Varghese Khoshy says:

    Hi, Kandamangalam,

Well said. But the language is too harsh which will provoke the MNS leader and he may go to any extend. These people know only to follow the path of Chatrapathi Shivaji when there were lot of small kingdoms constituting the ancient India or Bharatham. Now he doesn’t have the wisdom to study the statistics of terrorist attacks from 1993 Mumbai Blast to 26/11 (there were about 16 of them killing several Indians and foreigners (possibly he might be having the numbers of Marathis’ only. The proactive steps should have been taken much earlier. Even now Raj can rectify his mistakes. Let him interact with the State and Central Govts with the tool RTI ( Right to Information) and ensure that adequate security proactive measures have been taken in both urban and rural Maharashtra. At least India Awake need only to take care of the rest of the states.

Raj, please do not take it personal, as you ave a long way to go in Indian Politics.(don’t restrict to Maharashtra alone, and please try to be an Indian instead of setting your boundaries). I am of your father’s age. I am sure that you will agree with me and take it positively.

Good luck and best wishes to Kandamangalam too.

    Varghese

It is time that we all Indians use our power of vote to select our government to avoid such carnage and terrorist attacks in the future.

Raj Thackeray’s Reaction to Mumbai Terrorist Crisis
    1. Raj Thackeray has threatened to beat up the NSG, Army and Navy commando’s if they enter mumbai again because most of them are non maharati Manoos
    2. He also has threatened voilence if the Sign Boards of NSG, Army and Navy are not written in Marathi.
    3. He also expressed his anger towards the non marathi media for giving so much attention to NSG, Army and Navy commando’s. Where was the media when my Marathi Manoos gang was beating up innocent taxi drivers in mumbai ??
    4. He has also threatened the residents of colaba for chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” after the successful completion of NSG operations. According to him they should have chanted “Jai Maharastra”
    5. He said that he has no problems with terrorists so long as they adapt to the Marathi culture and help him beat up innocent non marathis in Mumbai. In fact he welcomes terrorist action in hotels because it will deter outsiders from coming to mumbai.

  5. Sonrisa says:

That was some nice intended pun at Raj Thackery.

  6. Hussain says:

Most of the NSG men are from the Northern part of India. These are the men who did not think about their present and future to make our present and future secure. They gave up their lives fighting without thinking about their families. These brave soldiers don’t divide the country into North, South, East or West. They stand and fight where ever they have to. Raj played a typical politician to grab local votes by harrasing the citizens from the North only a few weeks back. He should be ashamed of this.

  7. Arpit Gupta says:

    Hi Fellow Group Members,

I believe that Indians need an answer. How long can this happen to us.
Not only this we have a very short memory everytime a blast or a terror strike happens there are a lot of news reports etc but then we forget it and move on.

The best part is everyone holds politicians responsible for our miseries but that is only what we and media can do.

Going by what happened is very surprising that Mumbai Police, Navy Commandos “Marcos”, ATS, Rapid Action Force, Indian Army and last but not the least NSG were present and it took more than 2+ days to weed out 2 terrorists out of Taj???

Is there any strategy that we follow?
All the intelligent men out there at the top brass of these institutes actually know how to deal with crises situation?

I was shocked to see that how can 2 young men each spread across Gama Hospital, Taj, Oberoy and Nariman House caused so much damage and for so long.

I can just imagine if they were 100′s then we would have been fighting for a month at least and don’t know how many Security personnel let alone the civilians would have died.

I am no security expert but voice of a common man. Just by the facts that are reveling and in front of our eyes is that what a nation of 1.5billion do.

We are proud of our Chandryan to Moon and other achievement and cant even devise a mechanism to prevent such acts… Prevention is an over expectation but at least can it be handled differently and in a better way?

Do we need to shed so many lives to deal with such perpetrators and can these people take the whole country on a ransom?

Its time that we should come out with ideas that are practical and bring them to the notice of authorities and do whatever we can in our own means that something serous is done. Otherwise we will keep loosing our people like this weather they are civilians or in uniform.

I think we have a lot to learn from these terrorists
    Guts
    Enthusiasms
    Organization
    Planning
    Sophistication
    Belief
    Courage
    Tactics

Superior and precision way of conducting activities in a timely manner.

Lets not forget that over the period of time enemies will get stronger and even better equipped so immediate steps needed to be taken and that rigor has to be inculcated to combat the future enemy.

At the last my deep condolences for both people in uniform and civilians that died during the last 72 hours of this bloodbath.

I wrote this mail as I could’nt sleep the Wed night 26th Nov 2008 when this started and wanted to present my views.

Hope now we’ll wake up and necessary actions will be taken up.

    thanks and regards
    Arpit Gupta

MNS is actually MBS Banar Sena ie Monkey Army … I think we must get them also branded as terrorists … and due action taken ….

  9. manoj says:

Well written, aamchi manoos suddenly disappeared … wonder where ??? probably try searching under his uncle’s chair.

  10. rashmi kaul says:

I love Rajeev’s comments.I too would have said the same. The bugger has fled the country I guess.

  11. International says:

This guy is an anti national and a terrorist himself.
The guy should be dumped in the sea for for inciting violence & hate propaganda!

  12. Kandamangalam says:

Thank you, everyone for your comments. I cannot agree more with your frustrations. Here are some of reactions for the comments made

@ Durty Dawg – I understand your frustration. Aggression is not necessarily the attribute for change. Please read the article by Madhavan on Level 5-Leadership once again. You will get the point. I agree that our PM should have been more assertive while addressing the nation. May be the frequency too. But does that solve our problem ? No…

For all you know, he would have been working behind the scenes to move things out of the way. I think for change to happen, there has to be a grass root level movement…A movement that will change the course of the nation….all of us need to put ourselves in his shoes and think like him. And if we do so, you will see a sea change.

@ Varghese Koshy – Dear Sir, Thanks for your comments and advise. I will keep in mind your points…But when there is frustration, there is bound to be expression. At this point, it is an expression out of frustration and I hope these so called “leaders” would understand and take corrective measures as you rightly put forth. If they don’t, there is bound to be furore, again !

@ Yogeshwar Kumar – Thanks for providing the link. If there is any article that you want us to publish, we will be more than happy to do so. Please let us know

@ Rajeev – Your points are very valid, if people know to read between lines. Hope to hear from you again.

@ Sonrisa, Hussain – Good points

@ Arpit Gupta – Your points are very valid. Care taking a look at “India Awake” group in Linked In. Let me know if you are interested.

@ Peshwa, Manoj, Rashmi & Internaitonal – Can’t agree more

In the end, I just want to reiterate the same point again to Raj & his beloved followers. May be each of you can spread the word to your friends and help this cause

“Regional jingoism will only lead to self-destruction. National causes will any day supersede individual and regional goals. You better understand that, Raj – sooner than later !”

    Regards
    Kandamangalam

I guess the “junta” speaks. All of us know that Mr Raj Thackrey is hiding god knows where. His Marathi manoos ( banar sena) will reappear on 14 february for preventing the Valentine Day Celebrations. Baaki Mumbai mein kya ho.. kitney maarey usko farak thodi hi padta hai… I WISH THIS IS READ BY HIM ( OOOPS SORRY RAJ THACKREY YEH ENGLISH MEIN HAI … SAMAJH AA JAYEGA KYA TUJHEY )

  14. NMS says:

    totally irrelevant and useless discussion

  15. ENOUGH says:

Ohh “irrelevant” is it ??? NMS may be u can start some “relevant” discussion here !!

  16. Akash Mehra says:

Seems NMS is a keen supporter of Raj Thackrey… Lets ask Goonda Raj to step forward at the terror strikes.. lets see how he can save mumbai… infact we dont invite cowards like goonda Raj to fight against terror… for that a strong & fearless heart is required..

  17. mukesh says:

I am frustrated with the response our government has taken. Every time we have given lip service to the pakistani govt. We have also succumbed to the usa’s selfish policy. when usa was attacked they had given ultimatum to taliban and acted subsequntly.

Condelisa Rice came to India first and pacified our politicians. She spoke strongly. Then she goes to Pakistan and see how soft she was. This is typical of usa. They are talking about avoiding confrontation bet india ans pak since both have nuclear arms. In reality they want to protect their troops in afganistan. They really do not care about india or any other country for that matter. Pakistan has nuclear arms so what? We have too. Did Usa strike over pakistan territory with Drone planes? How cme they have all the rights and we do not?

The right policy should be to give 48 hours to pak to submit the 20 people. If not strike the pakistan and see how the usa would force th pak to deliver those 20. If we do not do this this terrorist attack will go down as just another attack and no consequences. We must act to show the pakistan and the world that we mean business and will not tolerate.

  18. Narasimhan SL says:

    Sudev,

Good one. I was watching a TV show where Mumbai literally spat on Raj’s face and ridiculed him for his sepratist attitide – I cant tell you how furious folks are with politicians at large. On an aside, most politicians across the board refused to take calls / come on TV to interview. The guys who did confessed to the fact that they were ashamed to be politicians. Most of the so called leaders were hiding!!! Shame on indian politics.. what we need is radical change. No one from the current crop seems to be providing that… for example, in Karnataka, Dumb DG and his family ruined the state, then came the congress claiming they are the solution – they were worse, and now our latest CM – seems no different to his predecessors. We’ve pretty much run out of choices to vote for – it is a bunch of promises with NO actions to follow. We need change!

  19. mukesh says:

I wrote earlier. In the heat of my frustration i forgot to mention goonda “raj”. I completely agree with you. Current Mumbai is created by contributions from people all over India not just Marathi speaking people. As a matter of fact Marathi speaking people’s contribtion is negligible. Imagine Maharastra’s position without Mumbai. His Uncle started the movement in 70s against south indians. Then he turned on muslims and now this goonda against north indians. How can people forget this. It is in the interest of all indians, particularly marathi speaking people to understand the selfish motives behind this goonda. anyone supporting him should realise he is doing a great harm to them. what earned income he has to have so much wealth. what has he done for education or any other positive activity that benefit the marathi speaking people? I believe young people of india should unite and start an organisation (not a political party) to educate and disseminate information to people the enlighten. I am also disappointed in media who spend enormous amount of time to bollywood and sensationa journalism.
