I live in the UK and what I have observed off many of fellow Indians prompted me to express myself.

People travel from India to United Kingdom with an assortment of set goals, aims, ambitions and objectives, no offence to either their move or their assortment which is in accordance to their personal commitments. But the way few of these people’s conduct turns out, their move, surely is devilling and has to deal with the concept of offence.

Instead of making an attempt to realize that we are in the UK and availing its resources to realize our dreams, we tend to nag and brood over UK exploiting DSCN0813 India during their rule.

Pessimism about country’s matters, writing off everything that looks opulent saying “It is made out of India’s heritage and wealth”, being judgmental about all the people of the country, labeling their deeds negatively while following the same life style in a more clumsy fashion makes the situation worse and to top it our demeanor makes it even worse.

With the presumption of hatred from the British, we inculcate the feeling of hatred for the people of the UK. We desire to see the UK being unpopular, while surprisingly hoping that its currency would overcome KWD (The Kuwait Dinar).

In the process of committing to the all the above mentioned acts with a great devotion, we should substantiate that it is resulting in deteriorating the prestige and reputation of all the other Indians in UK who are no way involved.

I now have arrived to a point where I sincerely request that if you are an Indian, if you are proud of your country, if you are a staunch patriot, then realize and understand the beliefs, the culture, the ethics and the morals of India. Try to put them to use which will cease you from getting a bad certificate of conduct for all us Indians.

If our preamble of constitution says that we are a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic, Republic country and if you believe that you hail from such a great country then try to possess some traits that would reflect our country’s greatness irrespective of which part of the world we are in.

Try respecting other nations and their people as it is always meant to be. We should realize that we are here in the UK utilizing its resources, that this country is providing our lively hood and it’s our minimum responsibility to be faithful to the land and not blame the land. If India is blamed because of bad deeds committed by a citizen of India, I am sure you wouldn’t be ok. Would you be?

    Thanks for your kind words.

  5. Yuvi says:

    Hi Bhaarath,

I truly agree that many people’s behaviour’s causes folks to tag Indians as desis.

They would never do such things in India, why would they do abroad, I can never fathom.

    Best
    Yuvi

    Hello Bhaarath,

I really do feel that you are right in everyway. But I really haven’t seen or met anybody like that. If there are any hope they’ll go through your blog.

    Cheers,
    Sunil Kumar.

Nice article Bharath. I hope everyone realises this and starts respecting other cultures. And I also hope one of your points comes true – GBP’s value more than KWD. Don’t you??? ;-) .

  8. Pranesh says:

    Bhaarath,

I believe that any person in the world following the true Indian way of living is an Indian and those who are not follwing are not Indians though they are born in India.

  9. Bhaarath says:

    Hey Sunil,

I tryuly hope that the day would definitely come where every person react in the same way as you did saying “I really have not seen or met anybody like that” and also hope that my article would not make any sense at all. But, alas…There are few.
I am happy for you and all of us, the Indians, that atleast you are in a neighbourhood where if people are Indians they are behaving as one.

    Thank you.

  10. Yuvi says:

  11. Ramki says:

I have often heard my friends who live abroad whining about this. They have multiple times told me that they are shown differenciation.

What you have written makes it sound the other way round. May be it is the other side of the coin that I did not know.

  12. Rajesh says:

Desis is what such behaviour gets us tagged.

I was a student in UK and I was fed up living with my fellow mates where pence were being counted.

I am certain, everyone has their problems, but I know these mates were from good backgrounds.

The moment they landed they were different pessimistic, whiny and stingy!

I am glad to be back.

But I must say I loved the place.

  13. Bhaarath says:

    Thanks for your comments Ramki.

Like you rightly said, every coin has two sides.

  14. Kaushik says:

People dont like and compaliant becos theyfeel that way. i dont think we can comment on their behavor

  15. coolguy says:

i think people dont have to feel “that” way it is common to find some differenciation to a different person. think of all those differenciations show back in our country between right from north and south indians again in north, delhi and biharis, in south between telugu, tamils

imagine a brit or american lives in your neighborhood, certainly there will be certain bit of differenciation

however it is fine if it doesn’t get into r*ci$t overtones

  16. Bhaarath says:

Well kaushik, my reply on your comment is the title of the article and the whole article again.

    Thank you.

  17. Mitesh says:

    Hi Bhaarath,

I agree 100% with what you have said. I have stayed in South Africa for over 5 years and have seen my colleagues bitch and moan exactly the same while staying and earning in SA.

    Anyways, avery good article.

  18. P.Tukker says:

Every country has bad people and that includes India. One can not blame a country for some people do mistake.

  19. venkat says:

true every country has its share of bad people, should not blame the whole country.

  20. praful says:

I used to live in Leisceter in UK and I have exactly experienced what you have mentioned. Desis is what all were called, but behaved like one as well.

  21. jess says:

i agree with tukker, every nation has its share of good and bad people, if r@$i$m is faced, why not talk about caste system in india.

    isn’t it equally bad.

  22. Anitha says:

    Hai Bharat
U r true.why do u worry abt people living in abroad .Come & live in India …do u think still our Culture exits. We cannot be proud to be Indians.
