Let’s make India a better place to live

“Yet again the communal clashes in the city has left the streets  burning with the flames of hatred killing thousands of people all over “.

This is Naina Sahay reporting live from Mumbai, Kal Tak.

Naina was a young, flamboyant journalist who had earned herself a lot of accolades for her brave reporting and blunt comments that supported the truth. Her parents passed away when she was barely the age of 12 in an accident leaving behind a lot of responsibilities and a younger brother to take care of.

As she grew up she started working at a very young age in order to give her brother the best of life she could. She gave him love of a mother, father as well as sister. And in the process earned a living through whatever jobs she could lay her hands on. Naina got introduced to the field of journalism through a friend and since then there was no looking back.

Naina just kept on climbing the success ladder to earn herself a life she truly deserved. From scratch, today she owns a good house, car and everything. But what Naina truly cared for was Armaan, her younger brother. She could never live without him. A slight fever and the girl who could report under waist deep water during Mumbai floods would go paranoid.

A small wound on Armaan would make her go berserk  and a drop of tear from Armaan’s eyes would just make Naina depressed. Probably that’s the reason why Naina was unmarried because she could not live without her brother and would want to give him her undivided attention.

But then one incident shattered her life.

In the year 1993 communal riots broke out in Mumbai .People were behind each other’s lives. Dead bodies were lying on the roads. Injured unattended and bloody and gory sight’s everywhere. People were scared to get out of their houses yet Naina risked her life to deliver news to people.  So many times the bullets must have just missed her but even through such tensed situation she would remain calm and help the injured on the streets. While doing her duty her finger constantly clicked Armaan’s number at the interval of every half an hour to ensure his safety.

Suddenly one day Naina heard a cry of help. On drawing closer to the sound she realized there was a man badly injured and was probably taking his last breadth. The man in a hushed voice called Naina closer. Naina hesitantly went closer. The man revealed a sensational news that would rock the nation and he also had photo evidence to back his story. Naina was shocked at the evidence. Before Naina could ask him any questions the man closed his eyes forever.

The man said that the current Chief Minister was involved in the clashes of Hindu and Muslim communities and he had started communal rights in order to degrade his political rivalry. Naina had a very important evidence and also the power to stop the future bombings that were planned to kill the leader of the opposition party which would leave the entire city burning and spoil the situation even more.

Naina hurried to her house and kept the photograph with Armaan. She went to her Head Office to make arrangement for her breaking news. But what Naina wasn’t aware of was the man who followed her to her house.

While Naina was in the office preparing for the prime event the man entered her house. Armaan heard the noise and went in the front room. The man attacked Armaan, Armaan resisted and tried to fight back but the man just removed a gun and shot down six bullets into Armaan. Armaan’s knees gave away, he fell down and instantly his life was snatched by the cruelty of the world. The man ransacked the entire house and found the photograph and ran away with it.

Naina with her boss returned to her house. Her feet trembled, beads of sweat trickled down her forehead, she collapsed the darkness was’nt only for the moment but for the rest of her life.  Seeing the pool of blood which Armaan was in, disturbed the mental state of Naina.

The news was’nt deliverd but the death of Armaan resulted in the suicide of the courageous self of what Naina used to be. Yet again the politics of our country silenced the truth. She lost her mental balance, she lost her voice and what was left was a silent suicide which was never recorded..

Statistics have shown thousands of people suicide due to different reasons but have we ever thought of the loss of individuality that people suffer at the hands of our ignorance…It is high time we follow the philosophy of LIVE AND LET LIVE… It is high time we understand that we are not divided on the basis of religion, caste, creed or sex but we all belong to a much higher sect that is Humanity.

We all have 2 eyes 2 hands 1 nose 2 feet, so why the heck are we fighting for our so called differences. Let’s all join in this human chain of understanding and love so that we make India, a better place to live in.

Microsoft Readies The Next Version Of SQL Server, And It Is Not SQL Server 2008

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

With SQL Server 2008 sent to RTM, Redmond folks are already busy working on their next version of Microsoft SQL Server. This new version is code-named Kilimanjaro.

On the heels of success of Microsoft Performance Point Server, Microsoft is all geared to give very tough

competition to the others in the Business Intelligence arena. The consolidation of the player in Business Intelligence market with SAP gobbling up Business Objects, IBM getting its hands on
Cognos, Oracle taking on Hyperion and Microsoft which picked up Proclarity (which is now integral to Performance Point). SAS is perhaps only large pure-play player left in this arena.

Microsoft has made its position into the Leaders quadrant with SQL Server 2005 and now Performance point. With Kilimanjaro it wants to further strengthen its hold on this segment. A proposed BI Appliance code-named “Madison” and another BI product “Gemini”, are expected to bring Business Intelligence to the masses.

While there are questions whether the world is ready for this three year cycle of refresh, primarily because, it is estimated that 81% of SQL Server users run 2000, about 40% are using 2005, Microsoft believes that it can offer flexible options for its users to upgrade (read licensing). Mainly it is about pushing the envelope on Technology enhancement.

Experts still consider Microsoft Technologies on this front to be weaker when compared to competitors such as IBM and Oracle. However with Kilimanjaro Microsoft aims to change the equation. Whether they will succeed in this only time will tell.

Show Daddy- How Decision Making And Procrastination Influence You

Tags: , , , , ,

You have read 2 parts of time management. The following is the third part of the 10 point series in time management. Before you read the following points just keep in mind to practice what has been learnt.

5. Do not procrastinate

What you can do today, you should do today itself. In fact, if possible right now. Each one of us goes through a series of tasks and responsibilities that we have to perform every day, every week and sometimes every month. If only we did things on time we would not have to face embarrassment, lose time and energy at reinventing the wheel

Remember the old saying - A stitch in time, saves nine.

Look at the other side of the story now – Again, lets take the example of a credit card. Assuming that you have to pay a credit card bill and you very well know that the credit card payment is due on a certain date of the month, every month. You get the statement a couple of weeks in advance.

The banks give you enough time to make arrangements for money. Sometimes you make it up from your monthly salary. Other times you ask your friends or relatives  to pay it for you. Whatever you have to do, you do and at the very fag end of the due date you somehow manage to scrape through.

More often than not, you end up paying a late fee for being just a couple of days late because the check that you submitted got realized only after a few days of you actually putting it through.

Now, think about this incident again – If you knew that there is a credit payment and that it is due every month on a certain date, why wouldn’t you make the arrangement before hand itself ? If you are in the habit of asking your friends and relatives, why do it at the last minute ? Couldn’t you just start working on it when the statement arrived ? Or better still, why wait for the month to be over for the payment to be made ? Can’t you drop in the check when you make the purchase itself ? These days your life is even more flexible with online banking, mobile banking etc.  Why don’t you make use of the available resources and do things on or before time before it is too late ?

C’mon ! There are so many things that you can do to avoid procrastination. Yet you don’t realize how much of a time wastage it is to not do things on time. May be you will, one day.

My suggestion is at least don’t procrastinate the realization part, for heaven’s sake. If you don’t realise it now, it might be too late before the obvious becomes no more obvious.

You might end up craving for time….your entire life.

6. Always MAKE Decisions

My dad always says “Wrong decisions are better than indecisions”. Indecisiveness is the biggest enemy in your path to success. If you are not capable of making decisions and that too on time, you will regret for your life.

Because time will not wait for you. Remember the old saying “Time and tide waits for none”

If you have a dream and you constantly wish how you achieved those unachievables and suddenly an opportunity comes along your way, you keep staring at the opportunity analyzing what will be your benefit ? how much you will get ? is it worth the effort ? what will my papa, my mama, my pals etc think ? how do I devote time ? where can I get the investment ? etc etc, you will realize that before you realized that you have made a decision the opportunity has gone to someone else.

If you don’t make decisions quickly and effectively, chances are that you will take an eternity to make one. And if you are dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur, forget about dilly dallying. Just forget it. There is no time for decision making and most definitely, absolutely no scope for errors too.

While it is important to make decision, it is also important to make the right decisions. Decisions need to be made quick, but they need to be calculative as well. You can not sit an issue for long waiting for things to happen. It doesn’t work that way.

Successful are those who know how to make right decisions in no time.
