How often does some news make you smile ? How often do you sit back and think – if they can do it, so can we – and of course the vice-versa too. Here are two such news that caught my attention today.
IBN Live reported this masterpiece in their year-end edition of “NRI Newsmakers of the Year”. It said
Navanethan Pillay – A South African Indian judge, he was appointed for four years as the UN Human Rights Commissioner – a significant achievement for NRIs. Her grand-parents migrated from Tamil Nadu to South Africa as sugarcane indentured labourers in the late 1800s, and she became the first woman to start law practice in South Africa’s Natal Province in 1968. Pillay defended several anti-apartheid activists and successfully fought for the right of political prisoners, including Nelson Mandela.
Did you find anything funny ? – No ?
If you haven’t still got it – here it is…
Navnethan Pillay – A South African Indian Judge, he was…….for NRIs. Her grand-parents…
That statement coupled with the photo (in that article) does make you think for a while…
Is She a He or Is He a She ?

After a lot of wait and watch, in Jammu & Kashmir there were some well anticipated results. The National Congress led by Omar Abdullah won the J&K elections but not with a thumping majority. With the NC failing to win an absolute majority, the expectation was for Omar Abdullah to be the Chief Minister. Today morning, the senior Abdullah endorsed that stand. By the evening, the situation changed and he could not resist vying for the coveted post, even if it meant sidelining his son.
Now what would you call that – Family Politics?
Oh yeah! – After all, they are humans too !
